Surroundings
Covering concerts and music festivals in search of creative improvised music often involves travelling off the beaten track. Particularly in Europe, small villages and mid-size cities are the sites of many well-known and popular festivals that draw musicians and audiences from the world over to share sounds.
We adopted the German word Wanderweg to describe our walks in the often-limited time before or between individual concerts and festivals. These Surroundings posts are an evolving album of Wanderwegs in many locations, including close to home, which sustain our inspiration. Here are some examples:
