| A second-generation bopper, alto saxist Charles McPherson is best known for his stint with Charles Mingus in the 1960s. Multi-instrumentalist Howard Johnson has worked with everyone from Mingus to the Band and usually plays tuba or baritone saxophone, though he’s playing trumpet here. |
