Joe Henderson
Joe Henderson
The best example of a talent who had to wait years for the wold to catch up with him, Ohio-born tenor saxophonist was showered with accolades in the mid-1990s by playing in the same muscular, unaffected style he has created 30 years earlier. Henderson, who died in mid-2001, merely changed the focus on his work from unconnected tuns that could skip from faux-fusion to deep-centred Afro-Nationalism to album length salutes to the likes of Billy Strayhorn and Miles Davis.
